Welcome to KidStory ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of children and their families. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our app at ai.kidstory.app.
KidStory is designed for children aged 5–12, used under parental supervision. We take children's privacy very seriously and comply with applicable laws including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- •Account information: Your name, email address, and profile photo — provided when you sign in with Google.
- •Story content: The story prompts you enter (by text or voice) and the AI-generated stories, illustrations, and audio created for your account.
- •Usage data: Story count, quiz scores, streaks, and credit usage — used to provide the service and show your progress.
- •Feedback: Optional ratings and messages you submit through the in-app feedback form.
- •Device information: Platform type (web, Android) used to provide the right experience for your device.
We do not collect any voice recordings. Voice input is processed entirely on your device by the browser's Speech Recognition API and is never sent to our servers.
3. How We Use Your Information
- •To create and display your personalized storybooks
- •To manage your account, credits, and subscription plan
- •To track reading streaks and quiz progress
- •To improve the app based on aggregated, anonymous usage patterns
- •To respond to feedback and support requests
We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
KidStory requires a parent or guardian to create and manage the account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at admin.kidstory@gmail.com and we will delete it.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage), hosted on Google's infrastructure. Story images and audio are stored in Google Cloud Storage with access limited to authenticated users. We use HTTPS for all data transmission.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
6. Third-Party Services
KidStory uses the following third-party services:
- •Google Firebase — authentication, database, and file storage
- •Google Gemini AI — generating story text and illustrations
- •Google Sign-In — account authentication only; we do not access your Gmail or other Google data
Each of these services has their own privacy policies. Story prompts are sent to Google Gemini solely to generate the story content.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- •Access the personal data we hold about you
- •Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- •Request correction of inaccurate data
- •Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account
